Yeah, that’s the whole point of punk, it’s supposed to be against the grain and anti-capitalist.
I’ve seen discourse in the same vein with goth styles. You’re supposed to throw on whatever black clothing scraps you’ve got, but there are people online who think you have to buy demonias to be goth.

Respectfully, I would argue that if no one had screamed about it, maybe nothing would have been done. The outrage brought needed attention.

Though I’m disappointed that this individual was able to get into the event, I still appreciate the con staff’s actions to prevent it from happening again

I'm getting the feeling that yes he has, but with a more progressive front to appease a left-leaning fandom. Or maybe they just offer him something he can't go without, so he doesn't completely cut them off. The family friendly look of his convention is coming off a little more prudish, now.

When I had seen his post about the ho*ds I thought, "Yikes... sometimes we make bad takes?"
Now that idea has aged very poorly.

P.S. I've seen others mention this: don't let this information coming out dampen your memories made at this con if you went this year. We all had fun and embraced our true identities and interests despite unwelcome individual(s) being present.

This is very very unfortunate. I was in suit while watching the parade so I didn't even notice him. Wow, makes me so uncomfortable knowing CC was there with us.

I didn't think I was going to be able to attend AC next year but now I have a good reason not to go.
