When I tell this story, I'm always surprised when people ask. "Weren't you scared?" No. It never occurred to me. My mind was working on why White stations I'd passed were clean and painted, but this one seemed to have been forgotten by the City. Ignored poor neighborhoods always shock me.

Why not just everyone meth? Controls appetite and destroys teeth so we'll eat less and less and stop complaining about grocery prices

I was in Chicago & meeting a friend for dinner. I took the wrong train & ended up in a clearly poor, mostly Black neighborhood. While waiting for my friend, at least 5 people asked if I was ok, needed someone to wait with me, etc. I was fine. Everyone was kind and thoughtful.
