i remember when i just kept trying to make the game fun for myself, but the strategy of "map an enemy's weakness on one button and mash" was just so consistently successful (let alone break soul lmfao) that i dropped it. dumb game

i don't buy that their enjoyment of ng4 is contingent on this method of achieving this very broad direction

if ng4 was made closer to how we wanted it w/ less tracking and momentum on everything, smaller/less exploitable arenas, no yakumo and all ryu, they would still hype it as the best thing ever

"but it's about speed!!!" defending the fucking with the feel of a game in order to achieve a vibe as vague as "speed" instead of explaining why this specific choice was the best way to achieve that sense of speed is the sort of shit that makes it clear that they have no real stake in the outcome

oh, that's exactly what geometry dash does, i'm being a bit cheeky - it doesn't literally have "credit feeding", but its practice mode is analogous in that you play through a level with unlimited checkpoints. whereas beating the level involves going through it single segment, no mistakes
