Today is my 56th birthday. It’s also Tuesday. I was born on a Tuesday.

In #fact, everyone alive today will either celebrate or have celebrated their 56th birthday on the same day of the week they were born. Same goes for 28th birthday too.

What’s Christmas without a bit of Bond…
A special episode of the Oddjob Pod drops on Christmas morning.
On Spectre Island Discs, @garyandrews.bsky.social, @firefli.es and I are stranded on a desert island and choose six tracks from the James Bond films to keep them company.

I think this place would be improved with a little message every time anyone adds an image to a post:

"Is this a screen-grab of X/Twitter being a shit-hole? If so, no thanks, we've already had enough of those today"

Also worth knowing: If you have a podcast/blog with its own website address you can also set up sub-domains for each person on it to use as Bluesky handle (eg @name.website.com)

Are you a social media manager running an account for an organization or high-profile individual? Or do you own a website and want a simpler username?

On Bluesky, you can verify your account by setting your website as your username.

We just refreshed our how-to guide:

Be interesting to see if Bluesky's growing popularity, especially among content creators, will lead to resurgance of people getting their own websites, or URLs at least, to verify their accounts.

So this is one of Bluesky's weird little quirks. Anyone who has the language of the app set to German gets an exact count of their followers if over 1000. For English users it would just say for example 1.6K

Another quirk is that the count rounds down on desktop, but to nearest on mobile.
1635. That was my family's phone number in the 90s. I could still dial it blindly today. On a rotary phone.
