… I think it’s easy for older generations to dismiss how important things are for younger generations, who are actively fighting the system and trying to organize. People have lost one of their lifelines, and I think grief is valid when you lose something that meant something you 💜

…it was also a place of free speech and truth. Ie, I often get shadowbanned on ig/fb for speaking out against genocide, and those apps suppress news they don’t like. On tiktok you could openly dialogue and organize. I think the grief of losing it goes far deeper than “an app”.

As a fellow GenXer I didn’t really use it, but for a lot of younger activists / queer folx it was a safe space and a real community. It was a lifeline for trans and queer folx stuck in conservative towns…
