Here’s what I watch, read, and listen to!
BF: Oh yeah?
Me: I will be j*****g off in the theater
BF: Well you’ll have lots of room

Shot in secret, and you see that in the end result. However, the director blends fiction with real shots of protests in Tehran to make it that much more convincing when the plot devolves into chaos in the end.

God bless you James Cameron.

I’ve always said that Lin-Manuel Miranda will one day pay for his crimes. I never thought one of them would be not returning for a sequel.
With boring songs, annoying sidekicks, and a convoluted plot, this is one of the worst kinds of movies of all - a bland one. Looks pretty tho!

‘JUROR NO. 2’ (2024)
Clint Eastwood torturing bisexuals everywhere by making them pick between Toni Collette and Chris Messina.
I love a courtroom drama, and the layers here were intriguing. The ending was superb but this also contains the worst line reading of the year…

‘RAIN MAN’ (1988)
It’s obvious why this has been referenced and parodied to death. The premise is interesting, even if the film has become more infamous for the conversations it’s started than its content.

‘FLOW’ (2024)
Beautifully animated in every frame. But it’s the story of an unlikely group trauma bonding that keeps you invested beyond the gorgeous imagery.

‘THE LAST EMPEROR’ (1987)
Really hits on the silliness of having an Emperor, especially when said Emperor is 4 years old. Beautiful gowns!

‘WICKED’ (2024)
With fantastic production design and some decent (yet questionable at the end) VFX work, a legendary world is made a reality. The two leads crush it! Excited to see again with a less rowdy audience.

‘SHREK 2’ (2004)
I’ve seen this movie countless times and Human Shrek takes my breath away every. single. time.

‘PARIS, TEXAS’ (1984)
A beautiful and surreal ode to the west and those that pass through. What starts as a mystery unfolds into a tense family drama told in the most idyllic way. I was enrapt!!

‘OUT OF AFRICA’ (1985)
The kind of movie with quotes like “Lord Delamere, may I present Baroness Blixen.” And then Robert Redford says something folksy and relatable. And then a posh white lady runs a farm with only black people tending the crops. Not for me, however picturesque it was.

‘AMADEUS’ (1984)
The next in my quest to watch every Best Picture winner this year - a masterful not-so-biopic that makes you feel the jealousy as it permeates through the screen.
I can’t stop hearing that giggle in the back of my brain.

‘GLORIA’ (1980)
John Cassavetes gets more narrative structure in his later years, but this one is mainly a child actor repeating the same three lines and Gena Rowlands shooting people. I enjoyed the latter!!

‘NIGHTBITCH’ (2021)
A story of a new mother with perhaps the worst toddler in the world, as she occasionally transforms into a dog. Thoughtful and more succinct than you might guess - the writing is superb! Some important musings on motherhood but the messaging gets a repetitive by the end.
