17th & final story of my first (and last) short story collection. Enjoying the challenge. There's one common character (sometimes just a mention) called Michael.

For 2 years I've been typing Michale.

Even at this late stage, I'm tempted to rename him Bob.

A rare and wonderful thing, when a TV adaptation matches the joy of reading the book. Having a narrator works so well.

Leonard & Hungry Paul on BBC iPlayer - check it out.

Clotilde sitting next to me. 8 years old and epileptic. She's had a tough week. Hates car travel and had a trip to the vet on Thursday, 30 mins each way. Several teeth removed. Ouch.

Chilling nicely now.

Hey. A top 5 placing in the Gemini magazine short story competition.

Not quite Fiontan Conquers America, but it still feels pretty cool

Sweltering weather, but couldn't take another day without a walk.

Two shots of the old donkey track between Paidohori and Macheroi in the Apokoronas region of Crete. Still open for use, and still the shortest route between the two villages.

With the tourist beaches only minutes away, this is the perfect Cretan walk through the shade of a cypress forest on the foothills of the White Mountains.

My daughter, a marketing manager, says moving from Twittermusk has reduced my reach.

I explained it has also reduced my urge to retch.

I lost it with WHSmith whenever it was they tried to cash in on the games console market. Was it early 90s?
They could never decide what type of shop they were.

Then I noticed that whichever branch I was in, one of the tills was out of order.

A beautiful time of year in Crete. The red are wild anemone, the band of yellow behind is wild mustard, and the purpley violet ones amongst the red are flowers.

I know. Further research required.

Has anyone else discovered Yogi teas from Georgia? (The country, not the US state)

There's something uplifting on the tag of every bag. Yesterday's was 'Contentment is oneness with the infinity.'

Can't work out why I get such a buzz from the definite article in that.

Cop a load of these two beauties, courtesy of Ioanna at the local nail bar.
No more broken banjo-picking nail problems for at least a month. Utter peace of mind.

Cool or what?

Been working on 'Save the last dance for me' arranged for old time 5 string banjo.

I'm left thinking it might even work. Perhaps I'll be brave enough to try it out on the punters by May

Crete's been cold and damp the last two weeks, but today, the first day of spring, it's putting on a show.

Georgioupoli beach, Apokoronas.

It's grand when the tourists are there, but maybe more special when they're not

Been thinking I should leave the black X for weeks. The sight of the little fella waving the giant chainsaw like some crazed eejit on the news this morning has done it for me. You'd think with all the money he could afford psychiatric help. Ah well.
