When I'm not being a pane in the glass, I write LGBT romance incorporating my love of history and the paranormal, and rarely have my nose far from the pages of a book - or a cup of tea.

There was a workshop on painting rocks in watercolour at last night's Windermere Art Society meeting - very useful for Lake District landscapes!! This is my first attempt...

Tricky drive to Ambleside through some really deep flood water (and even through the lake itself at Waterhead!) but worth it to see water thundering over Stock Ghyll Force after all the recent rain.

Just finished The Lost Storyteller by Amanda Block and really enjoyed the original, engaging and warm-hearted tale of a young woman searching for her missing father. Loved the twists and turns, touches of humour (her office job, the dreadful aunt), and the fairy tales her father had written for her.

One month's rainful in one weekend - and this is what our local beck (stream) looks like! Oh - and it's still raining...

Big treat on Saturday night as we and a friend went to a concert by Guitar Heads at the Royalty Cinema in Bowness. The band specialise in classic electric guitar hits from the ages and are fantastic, so it was a great night's entertainment. Apologies for the crap photo - the best my phone would do!

Had our first decent walk for over a week yesterday as I've been flat out with a weird flu bug. Didn't go as far as usual but still enjoyed a stroll through Wray Castle grounds and along the shore of Windermere. Lovely autumn colours but the wind was freeeeeezing! 🥶

I has tomatoes! From my magic tomato tree!

In other words, this is the teeny tiny crop from the tomato plant that magically seeded itself in one of the pots in the back garden. I'm quite sure they're not edible, but I still feel oddly proud of them... ;)

We had an errand near the M6 so carried on into Lancaster and spent the morning exploring - including the canal. All looking lovely with the autumn colours...

Super walk this morning exploring Serpentine Woods in Kendal. We've been meaning to do it for *years* and never quite got round to it! Really worth the steep climb...

Pics show one of the sculptures, the wishing well (which had a sprite peering out of the greenery), fungi, and the view...

Took advantage of the sunshine yesterday to explore all 1.3 miles of Ulverston canal from Canal Head to Canal Foot on the coast. Very tranquil, attractive and full of fascinating heritage including a "rolling" bridge! Also saw coots, dragonflies, buzzards and a raven.

I've been forgetting to mention that two of my pictures are on display (and *cough* for sale) in the Windermere Room at the Ladyholme Centre in Windermere.
There are also artworks by other members of my monthly pastels group and I'm genuinely blown away to have my art featured in such good company.

Unexpected trip - set off for GB Antiques in Lancaster only to find it shut in Feb! Diverted to nearby Williamson Park/Ashton Memorial instead, never been before but had lots of fun exploring the park, ravines, lake, the vast memorial itself and the butterfly house with actual tropical butterflies!

Had a smashing trip to Coniston last week and walked up the Coppermines Valley to take photos for future art projects. It's all so scenic it's hard to take a bad pic! Here's a handful of the best...

Haven't done much art lately... We'd noticed some damp in my study and started stripping back layers of wallpaper and lining paper, and found this absolute monster crack running floor to ceiling. Structural engineer coming on Tuesday so I've had to clear the room and have nowhere to draw/paint... 😮😢

I have a tomato plant!! With flowers on!!! That may soon be tomatoes!!!
All the more incredible since I have never actually planted/sowed any tomatoes...

Busy week - 2 concerts in 2 days! First was baroque music in the awe-inspiring surroundings of Cartmel Priory (below), the second was Budapest Cafe Orchestra in Ambleside church. Both great, second one definitely more fun (with whirling standard lamps, no less!).

I'm running around the house shrieking because this picture sold at the Windermere Art Society exhibition yesterday!
Called 'Ladies Who Munch', it's a charcoal drawing of two Herdwick sheep I photographed in a field near Keswick in the Lake District a few years ago. My first "proper" art sale!

Moved a bookcase in my study to decorate and found this. Next door's bathroom. Nuff said. 😱😥

There was an outdoor sketching session for Windermere Art Society last night, and for once it wasn't raining!

This is my effort, in charcoal and watercolour pencil, with the photo that inspired it. I quite liked it... until Other Half pointed out that the tree stump looked like a Weeping Angel... 😆
