Thanks ACEL Vic for the honour of presenting the Patron's Oration last night. It was great to share some thoughts on the need for more activist dispositions in order to propel the needed transformation of schooling.
“Either we radically change or face the dire consequences of outdated models.” Just heard @fiona-longmuir.bsky.social present an exceptional ACEL Vic Patron’s Oration - Reimagined educational leaders for reimagined Australian schooling - a case for urgent transformation. Thank you!

This paper has surpassed 25k reads in just about 11 & half months!
(Pretty good for an academic article, & a 1st for me!). It prompted many teachers to email stories of manosphere-driven sexism😢; & a few trolls whose gripe was solely ‘stop telling it like it is’ 🙃

Principals and teachers are working hard to educate students in public schools, but they're being asked to do too much with too little.

@albomp.bsky.social must back them with full funding, so that every student is supported with the resources they need to thrive. #auspol

Catching up on @ABCMelbourne's "Should we BAN teachers from using AI?" illustrative of damaging narrative about teaching & disrespect for the profession. 😣
Shouldn't we respect highly trained & expert teachers to use tools appropriately to do a great job everyday for students & families?
What If Wednesday: What if we banned teachers from using AI in school reports? - ABC listen
Today on 774 ABC Radio Melbourne Drive, What If Wednesday tackled the question: What if we banned teachers from using AI in school reports?

This is a beautiful article about government education, written by the oncologist and columnist Ranjana Srivastava. She says that her polite, obedient and diligent Yr 12 son is the "product of three government schools" 😭 So moving.
