As Stephen Porges said, “Safety is not just the absence of threat; it is the presence of connection.”
🚧Adults cannot make someone feel safe.
👶We cannot measure a child's understanding of safety.
Remember, for children with complex trauma, being safe doesn’t necessarily mean feeling safe.

Respect Their Journey

Children's care plans need significant improvement.
We must fully see their experiences & understand their world—the entirety of the child. It’s crucial to consider their trauma, & the whole of their world to truly respect their journey, & there needs & right to recovery.

If ur child were physically ill, would u fight 4 their treatment?
Of course, u love ur child.why is it acceptable to seek help 4 a physical illness yet it’s stigmatised 2 ask 4 support regardin needs stemming from trauma?Trauma leaves lasting impact that requires treatment,as a physical injury does.

Untreated trauma needs to be the priority, instead of professionals blaming eveyone else when its down to them to do a more thorough job.

Merry Christmas from PATCH!
As we close the year, we reflect on our journey advocating for adoptive families in crisis & driving reform. Sparks of success, building blocks of change, & unity formed. Being heard is priceless.
Have a peaceful Christmas!🩵
