Are there no reasons? Doretta worked hard, she's part of the team. There's emotional investment in keeping her running, and getting her back to the drop pod is a fun and sometimes challenging side quest a great team can do to continue striving for a common goal. It's basically playing catch :)

Cloning isn't creating new matter, it's arranging existing matter according to a pattern. Replicators use the same tech and visual effect, and draw from a repo of matter. Nobody thinks the replicated chocolate cake is the exact same chocolate cake, it's a copy. Doesn't even taste as good.
February 13, 2025 at 5:26 PM
Of course, that's essential for the illusion. The pattern buffer is a virtual environment created for the consciousness to experience before its copied into the new clone. If you didn't experience the inside of the buffer, there would be a break in awareness and people would worry about that.
February 13, 2025 at 4:57 PM
Easy, transporters store patterns in the buffer, then reference that pattern to construct the clone. They copy the consciousness, maintaining continuity of experience inside the buffer, then purge the buffer of the original pattern immidiately.
February 13, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Yes, unusual circumstances are required, but if it's always the same matter and the person being transported is conscious the whole time, how do we end up with transporter clones EVER? Transporters must assemble a clone from non-original matter and imprint a copy of a consciousness on it.
February 13, 2025 at 4:53 PM
How do you explain the several instances of transporter clones co-existing with their "originals"? How does a supposed stream of garbled matter being transported through space have consciousness if it isn't even in the form of a brain?

I really hope it helps you! Uninstall Facebook and reddit too, only use while at a computer. I've been trying to turn my phone into a tool, instead of an entertainment device. We are a captive audience since phones are essential for modern life, those apps abuse that.

I've switched my phone to grayscale to deal with the bandwidth issue. Videos are much less engaging now, it's perfect!

Yeah, they put so much effort into war games and space terrain, cinematic and voice acting, but the storyline itself made almost no sense. It wasnt compelling. I know there's a strong player base that loves multiplayer, but homeworld is first and foremost a space opera, you gotta have a good story.

Dang, I thought it was too good to be true when I signed up for my local version of it. Glad quality journalism still exists to point out this stuff.... For now.

Join Deep Rock Galactic! Aim hardly matters, all that matters is you Rock and Stone! Cuz if you don't Rock and Stone... You ain't comin home!

Rock! And. Stone! Fr Hw2 is kinda solid now that we've seen how bad Hw3 is. Such a disappointment, waiting decades only to do one playthrough and drop it in disgust.

Outer wilds is incredible, don't forget there's an expansion to the game available and it's incredible too!

No examples without controversy, but we outsource military functions pretty well. It's expensive but we do have the most advanced military in the world... Although that seems to be changing.

I've found that the dichotomy of control is an essential starting point and the easiest concept to explain and understand when introducing someone to stoicism. What would you consider the heart of stoicism? In addition, what concept would you introduce someone to stoicism with?

This is terrible news. No leadership change despite catastrophic failure?

How do reputable journals with vigorous quality standards differentiate themselves from the ones that publish anything, even garbage?
