I made a promise on the day that Russia invaded Ukraine not to stop helping and I intend to keep that promise. Another batch of items ready for dispatch, gortex mittens, thermal hats, socks and cat 7 tourniquets. All must have items at the moment. Kindly being taken by Ukraine Mission, UK Charity

Russian interest rates at 21%. Central Bank meets 20 December. Will it be 23% or even 25%?? Inflation climbing to 0.4% each week in November. That's 21% inflation per annum. Economy close to break point. The West/Ukraine, must last 12-18 months and Russia will need to seek some peace deal.

Why Ruble Collapse now? Since Aug and Sept? Mortgage rates were kept below 10% as government subsidised them. Now given up as costs too much. Interest rate now 21% and mortgage rates 30-40%. Defaults coming. House prices will collapse. No investment as no company will borrow. Economy a mess

If your inflation rate is 20% more than others your currency has to fall by that all other things being equal to keep prices between nations equal.
So we should have seen Ruble go from 90 to about 105 over last year to reflect US inflation is 3% and Russian is over 20%. Why big drop now? Read on

If your inflation rate is 20% more than others your currency has to fall by that all other things being equal to keep prices between nations equal.

Russian Ruble, turning to rubble?
Lot of talk about the currency falling sharply in recent days.
Ruble has been in decline long term as the Us economy outgrows it. 2022 invasion saw it crash then recover.
Only recently beginning to fall again. Why? Inflation at 20%+ v US 3%.

This was over 2 yrs ago! Had a party where I only served this lager. Every can meant a donation to Ukraine and every time someone opened a can there was a toast - mostly along the lines ‘fk Putin’.
