Rats - Art - Writing
I was asked recently by a Gen Zer how I found out about new bands back in the day, especially since I was a 90’s goth kid that didn’t/doesn’t listen to a ton of mainstream music. My answer: 120 minutes on MTV, which I regularly recorded on a VHS tape. MTV really was an integral part of my childhood.

To me, his words and actions came across as predatory. Like he was so incensed, that he completely forgot he was being watched and recorded. It felt like we all witnessed his mask slip off, giving us a glimpse of what he’s truly like when there are no witnesses. Frankly, it was completely unnerving.

Out of curiosity, what was the poll about? Was it specifically about voting? It’s covered up in this image.

CVS on the other hand, will no longer let you speak to a pharmacist when you call. Instead, you have to leave a message, explaining why you’re calling, and then wait for them to call back. Should that call come when you can’t answer, you get the pleasure of going through the entire process again 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thanks so much, I appreciate the advice!

I had to actually look that one up and yeah, that’s a perfect take on what we tell ourselves!

Ultimately it sounds like you need to experience the enjoyment of creating art, just for the sake of creating it, again. But you’re not alone with the imposter syndrome, I think all of us as artists get it. I know I do.

I think it’s worth doing. Creating something purely because YOU want to and it not being influenced by a customer’s ideas/wants for a finished piece will give you a chance to see what you alone are capable of. And hopefully it allows you to see why you have customers in the first place.

It’s disgraceful that she even had to do this, it should have been an automatic action on Harvard’s part. Their negligence to this matter should be viewed as a statement to every female on campus (employee and student) that women’s safety is not and will not be a priority there.

Absolutely! Rats and rat education are a huge passion of mine and I love sharing the what I’ve learned over the 30 years I had them. I myself learned so much from other long time owners and I love that the rat community is always there to support each other.

Coincidentally, my two seniors that I wrote about in my article were also 2 years and 7 months 😄 They are both gone now though.

Oh yes I understand very well and have had many oldies just like that ☺️ You may already know all this stuff, so forgive me if you do, but I write about rats and have an article on senior care if you’re interested in checking it out. It has tips and things to be aware of: lafeber.com/mammals/seni...

Awe, look at this precious senior 🥹 How old is he? Does he have HLD?

Making people start over in the middle of their benefits, after they finally got through the grueling efforts it took to get them in the first place, is next level cruelty.

They have to reapply??? When my family was on it, it was a nightmare of hoops to jump through and extremely time consuming. They’d claim we didn’t turn in forms that we most certainly did turn in then draw things out for weeks to months, just to deny us, forcing us to start the process over again.
November 15, 2025 at 11:03 AM
So you’re only doing art for other people right now? I do think that could affect the enjoyment of your own work. I think if you’re able to find time to do something that’s just for you, solely because you wanted to create that very specific thing, it may feel like a much need reboot.

I truly think she would have chosen starvation over eating the prickly pear I hunted and de-thorned for her. She also hoarded dry food like she was a doom prepper 😆

Unless they live in captivity, where they become picky little divas that refuse to eat their natives foods and even become choosy about the human foods you offer them. My woodrat rescue, Brisby would give me a look of sheer disappointment whenever I offered her something not to her liking.

You know, I didn’t catch that until you pointed it out. It’s honestly rather insulting to have it written like that.

That’s super thoughtful 😆

Can I suggest art supplies? Pilot makes an 8 pack mechanical colored pencil set that I love for sketching (not great for full color), Tombow has amazing erasers, and there are many brands of small sketch books. I also suggest including bending stumps and a graphite pencil if putting together a set.

And how long did they take to assess their findings? Also, why is it necessary to even list this?

Okay, adding a rum butter makes it sound even better!! I make sticky toffee pudding at least once during the last part of the year and I add whiskey to the sauce on top, which I think makes it even better. Your Christmas traditions over there sounds so tasty!

It’s a goal of mine to someday spend the Christmas holiday in the UK and I’m hoping to experience your popular traditions and delicacies while I’m there!
