Gonna go lick my wounds after that one. In any case, I hope you have a good night.

The proposal hasn't gone to a vote.

LMAO missed that. Tbf I think this behavior reflects poorly on the republicans too. 3/261 is much more encouraging, appreciate that.

I get my healthcare because of what dems have done for trans people. I live in a blue state, my rights aren't under immediate threat and I think that's pretty nice actually. You can tell yourself what you want about what I care and don't care about.

I wish 3/535 was as encouraging of a ratio to me as it seems like it is to you.

I'm trying to talk about rhetoric and ideology but it seems like you think I'm trying to talk policy. I know you agree that the democrats have become more harsh on immigration. I probably agree with you that democrat policy towards trans rights has been generally positive.

Ok so show me where she asked colleagues not to stand up for her.
December 3, 2024 at 7:10 AM
So Hakeem Jeffries, AOC, and Tammy Duckworth directly went against her wishes by backing her up? What did she ask them to do exactly? I may have misunderstood her request.

And in reference to our side-conversation on the border: it worries me that the democrats dropped their pro-immigrant messaging so easily after Biden won the presidency. I don't think it's that crazy to worry that trans people's status might hinge primarily on their perceived value to the dems.
December 3, 2024 at 6:49 AM
If democrats believe trans people are their equals, they should be unified in their opposition against their colleague's efforts to denigrate, humiliate, and isolate a new representative on account of her trans status. It's not about her, it's about them.
December 3, 2024 at 6:38 AM
These were examples of democrats not "fighting." I understand democrats have the better policy as far as trans rights are concerned. My worry is that they are backsliding on the issue as they would rather derive their stances from graphs than say, speak out about what they actually believe.

Almost as though they aren't organized around advancing an ideological vision.
December 3, 2024 at 4:52 AM
Every democrat who stays silent while Sarah McBride gets bullied by republicans in congress. Kamala Harris by stating simply that she'll "follow the law" rather than provide any tenable defense of why this law is just. The party is afraid to talk about it because they think it's a losing issue.
December 3, 2024 at 1:32 AM
So we'll have to look to other indicators to discern their motivations. Why do you think it is that democrats pulled so far to the right on the border in this last election? Why do they work so hard to distance themselves from defending trans rights? What is the ideological vision of the democrats?
