I love the companions, and it was hard to pick favorites. But I like my broken antagonists that fell short of being heroes in their attempt to overcome their traumas. The epitome of failing to break the cycle of abuse. I wonder how they would have changed if they had support when they needed it most

Mizora, Cazador, and Wulbren are all also villainous… but I see them as more cruel for the sake of being cruel. I know they are more nuanced than that, but I struggle to connect with their stories in the same way.

Raphael is just complicated. I like trying to pick apart his motives like I’m trying to solve a Rubix cube. He was made to feel inadequate in his father’s shadow his whole life, so he tried to claw his way into earning respect ruthlessly.

-but ends up becoming the very thing he despises by selling Karlach like he was sold to Raphael. Same with Ketheric. I understand missing your family, but to corrupt yourself and the world around you to try to regain their presence and simultaneously pushing them away is tragic.

I like characters with nuanced goals and backstory. I can deeply empathize with Gortash and Ketheric because of what happened to them… but their reaction to trauma is so complicated. Gortash tries to seize control of his surrounding to establish the stability he was denied growing up-
