Finished my first tapestry crochet project!!!

Obviously there's issues (not sure what happened to the heart), but I'm soo proud of how it turned out!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 7/10
If I had been sixteen when I found this book, it would have been a 10/10 no questions asked. Honestly, the only real problem with it is that I'm not 16 anymore. There's some issues with a couple historical facts, but it's a good book!

This book was a lot. I struggled through the first half, despite being hooked, but the second half was good. I have beef with some choices (Arthur Conan Doyle??? What??) but honestly, I quite liked it. It could have used another draft tho

I loved how different the two protagonists were, and how they approached similar stuff in very different ways. Some bits were a bit too fast, and it annoyed me how Kit was just an idiot in figuring out the plot twist. But I loved it

This was a fun read, and I read it all in one sitting, but I don't think it was the read for me. I don't think the heightened reality and comedy of graphic novels are for me. If I was that kind of person I think this would have been a 10/10

The journal was a simple listing of everyone who was at church each day and where they sat. Reading through it — all the volumes of it, and there were several already — it told the story of Havewend, of who came and left the schools, of how religious each family was, of who were friends with whom, and who avoided whom. You could tell when September came by, because all the names of students from St Martian were back, one or two pews behind when they were the year before, the first ones occupied by new names completely. You could tell christenings, for a woman would not show for two or three weeks, settling after having the baby and then her name and a new one would show up in the journal. You could tell deaths, for one day one of the students from St Martian stopped being recorded, and I still remember when I realised that everyone was saying it was a mystery how he’d fallen into the river to deign his tomb of a cross. You can tell a lot if you keep track of things.

Just finished making the hopefully final design for our stretch project in school. Look at it
A design for a bodysuit. At the top of the page is a quote by Daniel Mallory Ortberg that reads "as my friend Julian puts it. Only half jokingly: "God blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason Gab made weath but not bread, and fruit but not wine, so that humanity might share in the act of creation". The bodysuit is white with very close together gray lines. Over the legs, one of which is cut off, is a pair of weath stalks. At the center back is a loaf of bread scored to make a cross. Over the hips and shoulders are bunches of grapes. From the center of the chest wine droplets drop to a cup on the crotch. All of this is drawn in a linocut style. Over the right half of the chest is God's hand from the Creation of Adam, but in high contrast black and white. On the left side is a photo of some white paper being ripped to show black paper with the words "God blessed me by making me transsexual" written hastily in white. Both of these end under a photo of a pair of stone angel wings that are on the back. She'd probably look very nice in yellow, especially given her complexion.   George McCutchen had been, once, Lia's uncle, although he couldn't be much older than my father. He'd married Lia's Aunt Fiammetta when Lia was six, and immediately Lia and Ester's upbringing changed extremely. After something like a year, he'd decided he wasn't satisfied with the way the girls followed his new rules, and sent them to school.  When Aunt Fiammetta died, she had left him everything she owned, and nothing to the two girls she'd raised like hers.  Without him, Lia and I would have never met, but I know she would have been so much happier if she had lived those couple years more with her Aunt. So I hated him the same as Lia did.  I could see her hatred of him in the way she wore the dress, which was otherwise completely fine, if a bit plain, but that was how Lia liked them anyway.

The left shelf contains a handbook copy of Ministry of Unladylike Activities, the 5th Anniversary edition of MMU, personalised hand bound copies of the first four books, the American versions of the first three books, the Italian version of Body in the Blitz, and a book nook. "They are made to be interesting!" Fletcher started laughing. Lia looked at the periodical Booker was holding and simply said, "You must be here tomorrow." I wasn't sure if she was talking to Booker or the magazine, she'd been so gripped when she reached the ending of the previous issue, and she could not be kept from the continuation. "Wouldn't have a pay otherwise," Fletcher replied. "Now please, can I give you the gossip?"

It would be easier to see her as the more rowdy of us, especially by those who do everything to paint foreigners in a bad light, but even just because she could be uncaring of other people, and her emotions could be easily missed by people who were not as close to her as I was.   However because she hardly cared about people who were not her, or me or Ester, she was not as curious as I was. She wanted to know all that was possible, obviously, but I was the one looking for secrets in other people’s lives. I guess it made me a hypocrite on some level, or maybe I was just fourteen.  “Nothing worth half a Victoria, I’ll tell you that!”  “We’ll have pastries at lunch.”  “You don’t understand my pain.” She shoved me lightly.
