If you watched on Netflix I would suggest Stay Tuned!, which is also on there and also very charming and silly (but not quite as dry and not nearly as fantastical). Quartet is also very cosy. Rebooting great too (same screenwriter as The Hot Spot), but sadly not on Netflix atm.

Great show! The ending was pretty perfect though, don't think a second series would be the best idea. Plenty of other J-Drama to get through on Netflix as it is anyway!

Outside of ones that have already been mentioned, the 17-minute long take conversation between the priest and Bobby Sands in Steve McQueen's Hunger was pretty compelling. You could also choose most scenes from Goodbye, Dragon Inn, a film seeming built entirely out of long-takes.

Secrets & Lies
Happy-Go-Lucky
Naked

As a top three in no real order. Leaving out some great stuff too like Career Girls, Vera Drake, Another Year, and Life is Sweet!

Is it just me or does a flat steak sound like it'd be pretty damned chewy?

Not seen Conclave yet, in any case...

A very under-rated film, for me. Fighting with Back to the Future to be Zemeckis' best, even! Watching it now makes me yearn for blockbusters and big Hollywood films like this to be made again, it has a big budget but even bigger ideas. 2 and a half hours that just zips by.

I tend to prefer J-Dramas these days as they're all miniseries, so it's self-contained and you don't have to worry about waiting/cancellations. The very best on Netflix are First Love, and The Makanai, which are both utterly fantastic and I've watched both three times each so far...

I see Hikari Mitsushima, I add it to the watchlist. She's fantastic in basically everything I've seen her in!
