I had to come back and comment on this after I saw another social media post I made a few years ago suggesting SUNSHINE and OPPENHEIMER as a double feature, since both of them star Cillian Murphy as a guy trying to detonate a nuclear bomb.

Both films share a number of similarities, including married couples as main characters, seemingly unstoppable assassins, satchels full of money, sleazy Texas businessmen in suits, shotguns and climactic scenes that take place in El Paso. One has a happy ending, the other does not.

Amen. Even if we had an election tomorrow and kicked every Republican politician out, there are still millions of people in this country who are cheering for concentration camps. How do we come back from that?

I’m not sure who’s worse: Carol’s so-called “friends” or the sadistic thugs who cheer these cruel deportations and gloat that “this is what I voted for!” At least the latter group, as unspeakably awful as they are, are more intellectually honest about their complicity.

The sets they built at Cinecittà for this film are jaw-dropping. It makes me want to cry that they were torn down. It should’ve been turned into a theme park or something.
