I don't think the term is useful personally.
I think there are right wing elements within major media companies pushing them yes. The Murdoch press I don't think is a surprise, the BBC is more disappointing but has had its senior leadership replaced during the Tories time in office.

Got it, so if we are talking about the political establishment but you're saying it doesn't include the media sphere (BBC, Sky etc), how would them being rattled result in more media exposure than anyone else got? Its the BBC and Sky that keep platforming Reform.

That's why I asked you to define the term. It's clear we both have different definitions and I want to be able to engage with what you actually mean rather than what I think you mean.

How are you defining 'Establishment' because most people would be including the BBC and Sky in that mix.

Not a Green voter but they never got anywhere near the constant visibility and their policies (if implemented in full) would be far more revolutionary.

I think thats fine, let's be real, if a party is popular they will be able to gather volunteers. If they are not they won't.
I think the thing we need to have one eye on is tactics like Elon Musk used in the recent US election and trying to protect the system from that kind of abuse.

I would be open to various ways of making it work as long as the same principle was applied.

You can still have townhalls and no one has to stop canvasing, you just need to rely on people wanting to support you voluntarily.
You could adjust current rules so that each party has more space dedicated to political broadcast on TV and licensed stations etc

That way you avoid the arms race of everyone trying to constantly get more money to compete and corruption stands out like a sore thumb.

I was talking to my daughter about this, she's 15. They will just migrate to new platforms and/or unregulated places that make it harder to keep track of.
A parent that is tech savvy is going to struggle with the current situation, move all the kids underground and you've lost them entirely.

It's scary times but I think if we want any relevance on the world stage and we want to stand by our values this is the right move. I wish we did it earlier but understand that we had it hands tied by the US.
