This may just turn into another medium for me to complain at customer service representatives.
Anyway...a whole paper on the topic of the implications of Amazon buying One Medical, for anyone interested: jcl.law.uiowa.edu/sites/jcl.la...

(Remember, #RFK is threatening to throw people with depression and ADHD into labour camps: www.nytimes.com/2025/01/18/h... )
Kennedy’s Plan for the Drug Crisis: A Network of ‘Healing Farms’
The positions of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on vaccines and drug companies are well known. His approach to addiction has been far less scrutinized.

I also worry about how this type of commercialised private health alliance could very quickly have negative effects on vaccination rates and treatment for #ADHD, mental health issues, and addictions under the new RFK regime.

And putting sensitive medical data into the hands of Amazon seems to only increase the likelihood that women will be penalised for trying to exercise their reproductive rights.

Women & doctors are being penalised for having and performing abortions. Women are dying from miscarriages because doctors won't help them for fear of legal repercussions.

So it seems that this changes in purchasing behavior alone could easily be used to further harm women who need care.

By far the most disturbing thing about this alliance are the implications for patient #DataPrivacy. Sure, we have #HIPAA. But purchasing behavior can easily be connected to health status/health issues, as demonstrated in this story about a teenage pregnancy being revealed by her Target purchases.

Particularly given the fact that we all know where the #Bezos loyalties and interests now lie — and it's certainly not with the health and wellbeing of the American population at large.

I have many friends who have been patients at One Medical since long before the Amazon days, and they've generally been quite happy with the level of service.

I'm in Germany, so the ad was irrelevant to me — but this level of commercial privatisation of the health system makes me queasy.
