This is very important. I often share something I’ve worked on with people whose feedback I really value, and while a handful do respond to it, getting crickets from the rest is a very disheartening thing. Give feedback to your creative friends - it can make their entire day.
to me, “you should create for yourself” and “you deserve to be acknowledged for what you make” are two statements that should coexist. chasing engagement will rot your soul, while being neglected will see your passion wither. loving what you make is a failsafe for when the engagement never comes.

As much as I champion the notion that you should create for yourself first and foremost, part of the joy of creating is being able to share your work with others.
Not receiving any responses beyond a simple like or retweet can be very discouraging. Feedback really helps make a creator’s day.
