The vast majority of federal employees have to go through a consistent level of training and scrutiny related to ethics. It’s one of the strengths of our country and essential to democracy.
It’s always wild to me that at a certain tier those same rules just don’t apply anymore.

Another word for this is "corruption." It is wrong to abuse public positions for personal profit.

Believe it or not, I’ve met federal employees who have said this (proud libertarians). Yet I’ve never seen a single one resign and willingly give up that paycheck and benefits that are apparently (to them) unjustified costs to taxpayers. 🤔

It’s one of the main reasons I stepped away, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to church.

My family used to homeschool using a curriculum by Classical Conversations. Songs are used to help kids with memorization. In one, the Civil War is called “Lincoln’s War Against the States.” This is a taste of what Christian Nationalists want to be taught in public schools.
