On the first dvd of Mulan I got, the colour of Cri-Kee was wildly different from the colour he was both in the cinema and on the VHS tape

If you don’t have access to a 35mm print then a 16mm print (or 8mm) is also an option for some of these films, though there is of course the risk of colour fade depending on the quality/composition of the film base

Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle is very good if they like magic & dragons: it features many traditional fantasy elements whilst avoiding/challenging problematic stereotypes from previous fantasy series

I’m more of a literary historian, but I haven’t been watching it either: it’s mystifying seeing it get showcased on serious news programs

I also recently turned down a publication invitation from CUP over the AI licensing rights, and have refused to sign an addendum allowing my monograph publisher to sell my book for GenAI training. Small gestures individually, but if lots of us start doing this they may start to take notice

Yes, it disappears very quickly in the early 1800s (seems to be gone by at least 1808, probably earlier)

Oh this is magnificent! my knowledge is centre on the 18th-19th centuries, so I only knew that curry was already popular by the mid/late 1700s
