Folx, I'm not going to get het up over the meaning of yesterday's White House meeting or MTG; nobody should idolize anyone and future actions will tell. I'm going to be resolutely Zen and keep trying to "touch grass," as all the cool cats out there say.

I really miss last year's lifestyle.

The Trump and Mamdani meeting yesterday had that surreal feeling of when a player in DnD maxes out on a charisma roll against a tough opponent and ends up BFFs.

Nothing like finding out a country changed its name over 20 yrs ago and only finding out today to make me feel old and equally outdated.

Only other seasoned knitters know the agony of going thru The Stash and finding the odd balls saved for mending socks which have long since been lost.

(This could be some kind of metaphor, but winter is coming and I do need socks.)

I can't believe high winds could delay my political doomscrolling. (Also, that autocorrect doesn't already know "doomscrolling" is one word. Am I not trying hard enough?)

"Oh, yeah? Are you looking at me? You want to come down here and fight?"

Spicing up my coffee with a bit of schadenfreude this morning.

WTF is with Graphic Audio? I can't emphasize how much I hate it, and I'm saying this as someone who has listened to the entire Flash Gordon original radio show on cassette from a public library. 1/

I rarely use the word "hate" - for people OR things - but I definitely HATE this idea.

"What could possibly go wrong?" one wonders, glancing at decades of speculative fiction.

11+ million sounds nice (and so does the 3.5%rule), but I'm waiting on some hard facts, even if it's uncomfortable. Uncertainty and nuance isn't necessarily a bad thing (she says on social media, where everything is practically a slogan or sound bite).

"All in" like with the Army parade? It would be an unmitigated disaster, since the current administration neither respects expertise nor understands why it's needed even if one is holding the Big Stick - it can still land on one's foot, or worse.
Lindsey Graham: "If diplomacy is not successful, and we are left with the option of force, I would urge President Trump to go all in, to make sure that when this operation is over, there's nothing left standing in Iran regarding their nuclear program."

I've been telling people all month I have a "swank" new cane (LED headlights! Foldable !) so it's good to know I've been using the word correctly.

Of course.
Remarkable.

MSNC: "I want to reiterate this has been 100% peaceful."

Seconds later, LA County sheriffs start firing on the crowd.

Yet again, "law enforcement" deliberately escalated.

What a shit show this day is so far. Be safe and know your rights today, folx.

This wasn't on my bingo sheet for today, and it's not even 8am.
Walz announces that Rep. Melissa Hortman is dead as a result of a "politically motivated assassination"

Because there wasn't already enough going on lately /s
It appears that we are actively and directly involved in a major conflict between Israel and Iran which is rapidly escalating and the only thing we have heard from the admin is an obviously false denial from the Sec of State and a Truth Social post from the president about peace talks.

Who else remembers what happened with Georgia's House Bill 87?

The uncomfortable thing about social media is anything said comes at least in part from ego, even if it's a scream into the void.

As I taught my reluctant Gen Z teen how to shave my head this morning, I realized once again that, ironically, it's the kid who is cramping my style, rather than vice versa. 😅

Trying to have a nice breakfast before work while browsing news so instead *insert exasperated diatribe about the state of journalism today (and possibly forever if I think reasonably about its history)

In these harrowing times I recommend attempting to sew yourself a bra, because it's just frustrating and awkward enough to be distracting. Seriously. My fitting sessions are even distracting the cat.

About to enter the winter holidays, so of course I've begun a crocheted dress from a vintage pattern for spring/summer.
