If you have no money and want to help, do not worry. If you can’t do anything that’s fine. If you already gave or have nothing to give you can tell someone that in good conscience

If you can do more then find someone with no one and get to know them.

Give whoever comes up at the top a little bit. You might find it feels good and want to go down the list and give a little more

Just give to people when you can for the asking

If you can give them more than they ask for even

Stop worrying about what they’re going to do with it or how in your opinion they don’t deserve it

Worry that they might actually need it and far more beyond what they’re even asking for

Unless you’re very wealthy all it takes is one small thing to go wrong and cascade from there snd you could easily find yourself with nothing — the answer to that is not to horde whatever you can because even that can vanish overnight but / instead to share it and build a society that helps us all

Were it not for the lottery of birth you could as easily be where they are or where Amber and so many others are in so-called「 developed 」countries where we have so much but leave people in situations far worse than the wilderness where they might be able to forage

There are absolutely some scammers out there — @skysleuth.bsky.social ( who also needs help ) puts in enormous and commendable work to find them ( though / aside in a better world where we all took care of each other, they wouldn’t be so desperate ) but most people asking are not 「 scamming 」

So I am begging and pleading with you here — kill your inner Reagan and Calvin

People in poverty and desperate situations don’t deserve to be there — they deserve help. We all do.

Again that’s the entire forking point of civilisation first and foremost to help each other — we’re stronger together

But through no fault of theirs many people aren’t so fortunate as I have been

I know many here in the US and in Canada who don’t have such support — some of whom even have relatives with far more than my sister who won’t help them

…and nearly nobody in Gaza ( or Sudan or Congo or… ) has anyone

If it’s that you can’t afford to give even a little bit that’s fine / this is not for you — in fact maybe you should be asking for help yourself ( it’s forked that our culture shames and diminishes people for asking; that’s what community and civilisation are for \why we’re not solitary nomads )
