Yeah, it not so much letting guilty people go free. Guilty people still go to jail even with due process.

It's not about guilt or innocence, but prevention of abuse. If you never get to argue your case, you can be imprisoned for any reason, it's a safeguard against tyranny

Ah, fair point

You'd think they were part of the same country at one point, but no, the Slovaks were instead conjoined with the Czechs

There's no rhyme or reason to it

"Anybody who works for a wage and doesn't own their own business is a part of the working class"

By that definition, the UnitedHealth CEO was working class

Yeah I'm not crying cause he died, I'm just trying to tackle this ridiculous notion that it's acceptable to gun down people because they're a part of a class most people can't even define clearly
December 12, 2024 at 3:29 PM
The UnitedHealth CEO didn't own any of his own companies, he just had stocks in the company. In that case, is he bourgeoisie or labour aristocracy? And which one of those is it acceptable to gun down?

Its actually not "simple as".

CEOs ARE employees. They work for salaries.

Sure, they got stock options, but many regular workers get stock options in the business as well!

This is what I mean by clear distinctions are hard to make, you dig into the details and realize there's a bit more nuance

In my mind there is obviously a system of laws that are being faithfully carried out, even against the interests of the billionaire class, and attempts by prominent lawmakers to change those laws to address inequality. Focusing our efforts there will probably be more fruitful.

I keep hearing this talk of "no one's doing anything" but UnitedHealth was being investigated by the DOJ for insider trading and were being blocked from acquiring anothrr by an antitrust lawsuit, and part of Kamala's platform was trying to tax unrealized capital gains

I agree with you that Americans need to deal with the economic disparity that they experience otherwise its going to lead to social unrest

My main gripe with this whole CEO shooter business is that I think there are better ways to do that than vigilante justice
