A high-ranking member of the royal family, Clarus betrays his own kingdom and blood, though the reasons behind his treason remain unclear. The speed and brutality of the assault catch everyone off guard.

However, taking advantage of the concentration of diplomatic forces in Insomnia, Niflheim launches a coordinated assault led by Emperor Iedolas Aldercapt and Clarus Amicitia, cousin to King Regis and father of Gladiolus and Iris.

In the grand meeting hall of the Citadel, the heads of state and diplomats of Niflheim and Lucis gather to discuss a peace treaty.

Despite the strangeness of their encounter, a sense of connection forms between them. Before parting, Stella invites Noctis to visit Tenebrae one day, and they leave each other with a feeling of mystery and a lingering sense of closeness.

But this illusion of peace lasts only a moment.

Noctis, while acknowledging similar legends exist in Lucis, rejects the idea that he possesses such a gift and insists he doesn’t need it. He warns Stella not to speak too openly of this phenomenon: being different often attracts trouble.

This light, invisible to ordinary people, occasionally grants powers to those who have faced death, a gift both Noctis and Stella seem to share. Stella mentions an ancient Tenebraean legend that speaks of chosen ones marked by this light, granted supernatural abilities.

During this event, Noctis meets Stella Nox Fleuret for the first time, a noblewoman from Tenebrae.

The story begins as Noctis Lucis Caelum, crown prince of Lucis, drives through the illuminated streets of the capital city, Insomnia, in a black limousine, chauffeured by veteran Cor Leonis, the loyal captain of the Royal Guard.

In a world divided between five great nations, four of them — Lucis, Accordo, Tenebrae, and Solheim — once lived in peace, each guarding an ancestral crystal containing a powerful mystical energy.
