With this logic of pricing; should I have NOT bought the Studio Series Sentinel Prime ($49.99 CDN) because it's more expensive than the basic retail version ($29.99 CDN)?

Toy collectors are shaming another for being able to afford a toy they want.
Sure there are alternative cheaper option. But again, it's an option, not mandatory.

The combiner parts on Silverbolt look silly to me.

I am BEYOND impressed by this combiner.
It looked small in pictures but it is much better in-person, especially amongst your other figures.

They didn't even give it a proper toy line on shelves. We're getting a single character within Studio Series every couple of months.

Between the two sublines of "Cybertroinian" designs within Studio Series.
TF: One has been a lot more pleasant to fiddle with (Optimus Prime is the only one I haven't enjoyed)
WFC/FOC figures aren't bad, per se. But a lot of misses than hits.
