The ERC project lead by Stefanie Gänger, with Yijie Huang, Teresa Göltl, Jenny Sure, and Lea Trigilia at Heidelberg University explores the history of fever in societies within or tied to the Atlantic World.

This FEVER historian spent the last few days deep in the beautiful archives of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, in the footsteps of the many doctors who came here in the 1700s to learn about fevers.

Ahead of our FEVER-workshop on 10-11 July, we'll be hosting Kevin Siena's talk "The Foetus is made by Contagion: Pathology and the Enlightenment Debate on Human Variety", next Wednesday (July 9) at 16:15CET at the lecture hall of Heidelberg's History Faculty or online via zoom (e-mail us for link!).

Spent the day in the beautifully located Archive of the Nobility in Toledo, reading eighteenth-century letters by noblemen and women suffering from fevers, exchanging recipes for febrifuges, laments, and well-wishes.

Our very own @Yijie Huang, who has also recently joined BlueSky, has spotted fever-tombstones at the Hong Kong Cemetery in Happy Valley, which housed the graves of members of the British military force and their families.
