The success of the Steam Frame will depend on price. The worst place for it to end up is $899-999, I'm afraid that will position it to be too expensive for non-enthusiasts, but outcompeted in dealbreaker areas by equally/slightly higher priced competition.

Aaaand that's a wrap on #LD57! Had a great time, we didn't get everything done that we wanted to of course, but that's just the way the jam spreads. Here's our game '.downtreading' if you want to check it out, I'll be livestreaming playing other submissions later!

Super excited, gonna be using this as an opportunity to really dive into Godot for the first time, I've played around a bit but never finished anything. Will be a nice break from the main project too!

I have... mixed feelings about console exclusivity as a whole. But nevertheless, #Duskbloods is one of my highlights of the direct. Vampires, steampunk, guns and Fromsoft? Count me in.

Glad to see some clarification that there will be at least some cartridges with actual game content on them. Hoping this is the norm and that the "key card" download-code-in-a-box thing is a rarity.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) will come on a physical 64GB game card buff.ly/ytlRxDP

Price of the console stings a little, but I expected it. Price of the games though, I can't see any legit reason to add another $10 when we're already all still adjusting to the $70 price point. Hoping this isn't the precedent for every first party release but I'm not holding my breath. #Switch2

Overall happy with the #Switch2 direct, definitely exceeded my expections for game announcements and met them for the hardware. A little bummed about the price point of the games, and I'm really hoping we get some clarification about the "Game key cards" on the support website.

Been seeing a lot of baseless hate for @unrealengine.bsky.social and UE5 in particular in non-dev circles of the gaming community. Saw one pretty popular video that's a particularly bad offender. Thinking about making a video addressing this...

After some major consideration I've created a public account over the on the other website. I'll be maintaining post parity going forward, especially as I've got some projects in the oven that are gonna start to see the light of day soon. If you still use that website, you can follow me @FerynDev.

Just deleted my @chess.com account of 7 years over their ridiculous decision to post AI generated garbage on the other website. Insult to the human soul, and one of the greatest artists in human history.

Heartbroken to hear about the passing of David Lynch. Rest in peace, legend. No other artist has had as much of an impact on everything that has made me who I am today.

To add to this, VR developers looking to improve performance need to learn from HL:Alyx and start using almost entirely baked lighting. It looks better than the low quality GI settings you have to use in almost every case to get it to run at 90fps and frees up GPU headroom for supersampling.
It's so tempting to just slap lumen or a hardware raytracer on everything and call it a day, I'm guilty of it myself. I do think some games benefit from it, like Teardown, but high quality baked environment lighting + a real-time GI solution for dynamic objects and characters is usually ideal.
