that being said, beastars is not a particularly high octane manga and does not need to have the most fluid animation imaginable. i think the pacing in the anime is pretty good about understanding that part of the series, creating more picturesque images to make up for the lack of wild expressions

this isn't a bad thing, but it's in a similar manner to how chainsaw man's first season, despite how much i love it, isn't quite as representative of the source material as it could have been. the movie recently captured that a lot more on that end as well

ehhh i dunno, sanda looks absolutely insane and is a phenomenal recreation of itagaki's expressive art style. the beastars anime is great for what it is but i feel like it's an entirely different tone, with a lot of the more nuanced character traits being removed like haru's petty gremlin energy

it has some of my favorite guest directors in the industry and i'm literally always thinking about it
