we have images going back decades for this region, which gave us this timelapse in 2018. each of these dots is a star, the brightest ones much larger than our sun. The fastest among them is S4714 at 8% of the speed of light at apoapsis.

The US army officer who decided helicopters should be named after indigenous tribes (AH64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, etc) was from an army family. His father was an officer in the 6th cavalry on the Pine Ridge campaign, the ethnic cleansing operation that resulted in the Wounded Knee massacre.

It's in the founding platform of Netanyahu's party Likud, The very first paragraph. Most of Israel's leaders from founding to the 2000s were murderous terrorists and the ones since would have if they'd been adults that long ago. www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/original-par...

I had no idea we had the technology to take detailed images of objects this far away.

imagine you're a peasant in 1220, asked to haul rocks to Paris with your donkey, and when you arrive you find out this is what they're used for

I spent years trying to tell people this would happen if we rewarded Starmer's lack of principles by handing him the keys to the country. I have given up on anything beyond looking after the struggling people in my life because every path to a better world has been blocked by Starmer's 2024 victory

my constituency has a decent green MP ( former MEP @elliechowns.bsky.social) but get cancelled out nationally by Starmer and his backers. If right wing labour were as competent as they are cynical we wouldn't be in this horrific position, people are DESPERATE for a functioning, funded public sector

you don't get to build and lobby for this system of healthcare for decades and then shrug and blame the other capitalist for also being a capitalist. This hot potato blame game you want us to charitably play is the exact plausible deniability they hide behind

Every time I see someone on the English language side of zionism pretend Israel assigns any value to Palestinian civilian life I can't not think about the murder of Bashir Hajji. He did everything they wanted and they still executed him after using him for propaganda

Just encountered the concept of a "mild hybrid" car for the first time. What makes it "hybrid"? It recovers part of the energy when you brake, and stores it in a tiny battery. The estimated fossil fuel economy for this estate is worse than my 12 year old car's actual mpg
