Math time: assuming videos use a standard format that manages 1 GB per hour of video. If you use a butt ton of SSDs ($60/tb) instead of a rental service, you'll need to put up $0.058 per second to match YT's traffic. That's $5062.50 per day, and that's discounting old SSDs that need replacing.

Yep! Consider the cost of a one-terabyte SSD, the data size of an hour of video, and the fact that 60 hours of video is uploaded to YT every minute- an hour every SECOND. Sure, an up-and-coming competitor won't receive ALL of YT's traffic at once, but they'll have to be able to rival it.

I urge you to reconsider the value of those years of college training.

The people who are greedy and want to hoarde resources... do, and the people who aren't greedy... don't. The greedy people naturally filter up, and when financial and political powers are allowed to cross-breed, that upwards filter gets institutionalized. We should prolly do something about that...

I think you should be more careful about that consideration: most if not all of these jobs DO require lots of knowledge in order to carry out safely, efficienty, effectively. (Otherwise what's onboarding training??) That this knowledge isn't part of a college course doesn't make it any less "skill".
