And the third track released today. These are all separate ideas I had more for bridges/breakdowns in other songs but I thought they fit together quite well instead.

Second track, this one I had no idea what to do with until I copy/pasted the "happy" chorus sound in a really slapdash way, and it just worked for me, so here it is.

There's a couple tracks that could do with re-amping the bass or rerecording something but for now I'm feeling way way way better about these tracks now that they're not all a muddy sludge with wildly inconsistent volumes lmao

Didn't post about it but I went ahead and remixed this demo album again and added much better drums, so my releases sound way more consistent as a whole. I'm going through all my tracks and remixing them now that I actually know wtf I'm doing lmao

At some point your old favourites should retire, and I definitely felt that listening to their last album and now this - seeing them on their last UK shows felt like a great time for me to kind of "say goodbye" to them in my head and move on, and they're proving me right to do that lmao

When they last came to the UK they had a godawful AI video on in the background of a couple of songs and it made the crowd laugh. it was supposed to be a dark horror thing and people LAUGHED. I do not know if they noticed but it definitely made me realise I shouldn't bother seeing them again.

The original composition file had a few timing issues that I couldn't figure out till later from that 2009 file I fixed up before recording. Funny how I remember being unable to get it sounding how I wanted it to, now recording it sounds better than I imagined it back then lmao

the thing with getting my mixing better with these older compositions is that it's starting to make them sound better than my newer ones. I'll go through and remix the older tracks with my new knowledge... eventually. maybe when I've ran out of things to actually record.

I could have probably expanded a couple of the ideas into full songs on their own but with these really early ideas I think this sort of song-montage fits a bit better. Plus it should go well with the next one I've got to record that was put together in a similar fashion.

I think this might be one of my favourite of my own tracks since I put the ideas together. Can you tell I'm a bassist lmao

also it's my first track actually using my TD-50X! I've mixed it with the GP8 drums and got it sounding much better than either alone. I'll probably end up going back through my old songs and adding it in at some point, but I'd rather get unrecorded ideas down than updating old ones.
