I contain multitudes and sort of hope to gather my thoughts in a somewhat organized fashion to make/teach some stuff in the service of environmental activism and its intersections
Based in Champaign County, IL
Delighted to report I found my own batch of split gill mushrooms, Schizophyllum commune, so now I can hang with the fungis 🤣

Costa Rica has massively rewilded over recent decades. Has this led to the collapse of farming, rural society, or national wellbeing?

Totally the opposite, and we in Ireland have SO much to learn from their example. My piece for the @irishexaminer.bsky.social

Daily posting is currently beyond me, but I’ve managed to grow this very large bay leaf and it will be a delicious addition to my next batch of bean soup.

What is the word for the very uncomfortable realization that what I can offer some of the people I care about is not what they want from me, and what I want from them is not what they can offer.

Whoops - got sick & utterly filled with despair @ the state of (waves hands) things

Day 6: Serviceberry, Amelanchier spp, Rose family (Rosaceae)

I am growing seeds from a artsy friend @hooeybatiks.bsky.social. Today’s intersectionality is that instead of the other organisms that visit this plant.

I love this! We all make thousands of decisions in a month. If everybody changes a few of those decisions in order to boycott some corporations, that makes a dent.

We don’t need to cut out everything. We just need to work together to collectively move the needle so that they feel the burn. ✊
It’s not about perfection.

It’s death by billions of paper cuts to the billionaires.

Find what you can change. Change that. Sustain as long as you safely can. You’ll often find as you adapt, you can change even more.

Target & Insta were easy for me. Amazon is harder so I cut a bit at a time.

I’m going to start posting with 30 days of native plants. I did 20 days of pottery on my other account @piperpottery.bsky.social & it was a strangely comforting ritual for the past almost 3 weeks 💚
