I think I do Moments well. Little snapshots in time that express an emotional beat of a narrative.

I am also very fond of the way I use environmental lighting as a base to build from or enhance, rather than create new.

Whatever—whomever—rested there did not sleep easily. Echoes of voices sounded around her, anguish and fear slamming into her mind. She could not push them away. Not the ones within, not the ones without. Ears flattened against her head. "I can't." She scrubbed her hands over her face. The snake tightened. "Even if I stop Fandaniel, it doesn't stop the rest. The next fight, or the next, or the next. It will never end." Her jaw trembled. "There is no future where peace is an option for me. Just fighting and strife and loneliness so long I can't see the end." She shivered in the dusty wind, rested a hand against her chest, the thick, heavy snake an inferno beneath her palm. "I cannot live like this, rotten and gutted." She shuddered, and decided, "I'm coming back to you." If you leap, I shall catch you. She quaked, tips of her ears to curl of her toes, nodded, and turned about. Back to the crevasse's vast expanse, eyes set upon the star, brilliant blue and teeming with life in the distance. A mockery of how dead she was already. She held her arms wide, and tipped backward. Back. Back. Back… and down. The voices dampened. Quieted. And then… silence.

Elidibus made it in SoS so she had no excuses to not fight him. Fitted and designed for her body in only a way a possessive partner could manage.

She killed him with it, despite loving him, and when she could stomach picking up an axe again, entertained no other.
