As a Korean-American, I do have a western first name so I don't encounter this problem myself, but it's never sat right with me to see people refuse to learn a new name. Especially in fandom spaces, I feel like it's super weird.

I have expressed my discomfort with this in the fandom before. I am greek and have a Greek name. I had to grow up with my name being butchered and it makes me uncomfortable to see people refusing to learn how to spell it. And I was brushed off
