I think people forget that this book is written as Parzival's Memoir to set the record straight not just as a Novel. He's telling what happened and leaving nothing out. Giving all the deets. It's OK to judge his actions, hell he knows what he did at times wasn't cool or OK. He was just a Kid.

It's written for people like you who don't know about this stuff, being familiar with the 80's Pop culture just gives the book an added bonus. I had no clue about Rush, phone freaking or any of the computer stuff and the line about being in the world's greatest Arcade without any quarters hit hard.

Rodimus just didn't wanna do the administrative minutiae, He was fine in a fight. Optimus ran a Resistance Militia, Rodimus had to run a Government. Who's to say Optimus wouldn't have been the same? Dude was just a dock worker before the second civil war.

What version of Superman is Perfect? They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Personally I love a Superman that never gives up and always does what's right not what's easiest. Killing Zod was what was right not what was easy, using the K spear on Doomsday was what was right not what was easy.

Snyder's movies were judged more for what they weren't then what they were. It's easy to get angry over that especially when the new guy seems to be getting praised for doing the exact same shit. I swear it's like Every time I get a version of Superman I like the Nostalgia crew kills him off.

Snyder fans have also raised millions for Suicide prevention. That what happens when you genuinely like something. Like it says in the movie, they will race behind you, they'll stumble, they'll fall, but in time they will join you in the sun. This is what those words look like in practice.

But that was the purpose of the movie. To see these "Superbeings" from a Human perspective and see how the people reacted to them. This goes for Superman and Batman as well.(Remember him?) Suicide Squad was to show that these types of being have always been here. Every film made the world larger.

This Superman was still in Year Two. People don't know him yet. He just shows up, saves the day then peaces out. In a Post 9/11 world a being like Superman would get much more Scrutiny from the media then before especially after the BZE. Plus let's face it Zod showing up kinda screwed up his Debut.

The people looked at him like that, He didn't look at himself like that. You can't control what people think about you. Snyder made Batman look as Monsterous as Possible cause his whole deal is fear. Superman saves people from certain death, why wouldn't they see him as a god?
