Alright! I just figure if the gas works, it won't click to start it without power, but a lighter would do the trick; I recall my parents doing that when we were little, so. I suppose when the time comes we'll see if I'll be able to at least cook and boil water n stuff.

Yeah I'm not sure! I don't know if we have the manual but I can try and see if I can find the one for our stove. I know our gas bill is separate from the electric, so I don't think that gets shut off with the power, but I guess we'll see.

All of this is really stressful and scary, and I'm ngl, I'm having a hard time keeping it together through this. x-x

Not really, we live in one of those old style philly townhouses/rowhouses, and our backyard is inaccessible (and it would 1000% be stolen off the front porch around here.) I have a box of those hot-handwarmers that I can wrap in towels to be safer around the snake, those will last a little I think.

we have a gas stove? IDK what the deal is if you don't have power, but if the gas still works, maybe we can use a lighter to light the stove? I don't know how all that works if I'm honest.

I also didn't sleep the entire 3 days that we didn't have power that time, as it wasn't safe to, with a snake in my hoodie and cats also clinging to me. So idk how it'd work for a longer period.

My snake's a ball python, who's temps on the low end should be around 70F; so. Last time we lost power she stayed in my hoodie against my skin. I'm a naturally cold person though so it's hard. She also stresses out really bad, and refused food for weeks following that event. :/

Nothing to help us here with this situation sadly. Bf makes "too much" for most help agencies and assistance. Plus with the govt being shut down a lot of stuff is either slow or outright inaccessible. Thank you for the tips on staying warm though. ^^;

And before anyone asks or brings it up, the laws in my state don't protect heat shutoff until december so.. we're fucked. I'm scared, really legitimately scared.

and if that does in fact happen.. I need to find ways to keep myself, my kitten, and my snake warm. The last time this happened, it was three days of no sleep with a stressed out snake in my hoodie. Please help, tips, anything. Share my ko-fi if you can..
