Events FemQuant—September Seminar: Invisible Biases, Unequal Outcomes: Uncovering Gender Biases in Quantitative Research on Older Adults September 18th, 2025 at 10:00 ET/15:00 GMT/16:00 CT: signup form here. Description: This presentation delineates gender-specific biases inherent in research on inequalities among older adults with regard to two components of quantitative analyses: the sample definition and the methodological approach. First, I argue that prevalent sample definitions for the elderly, the self-reported retirement status and pension receipt, are conceptualized around the notion of idealized male-typical biographies, and that using such sample criteria leads to country-specific gender biases.
