industry. In a way, a person can also be a brand but the whole shilling it as an idol critque thing really ends up watering down what the movie portrays. Doesn't help Oshi no Ko dropped the fucking ball too

I think my main gist is, there's actually a lot more about this movie you CAN talk about because it's not only higher ups and fanatics that can target you, there's this sense of delusion you can form if you've been following the career of someone you personally know even outside the entertainment

Mima herself knew what she was doing was wrong but she didn't feel like she had a choice. Especially for newbies where "looks and sex sells" seems to be the fastest way to gain attention rather than performance and skills.

Rumi seemed to be more concerned about the image of Mima rather than Mima herself. The industry does take advantage of her though when that rape scene was getting filmed, Rumi felt like the public display of Mima was tainted rather than her wellbeing and body.

I watched it with oomf on my birthday and I always thought it was more about maintaining that ideal or "perfect" image will make you lose grasp of yourself and the idol stuff happened to be a strong footing for it
