Awesome. I only hope that "Trump do Brasil" actually gets to serve out his sentence. It would be a shame if he died too early.

These creatures are highly social and way too smart to be kept in a jail. I see this as similar to keeping elephants in a zoo.

Surprise, humans in captivity usually don't thrive either.

Dr. Goodall's well-broadcast science was very educational to me as a child. It's one of the reasons I am a STEM grad.

The planet misses you, Dr. G. Thank you for your contributions to mankind.

PS - interesting how they transliterate “Tim Horton's" as "天好" (tian hao) - "Good Weather."

I really enjoy how Chinese language speakers transliterate foreign words and names. It's always entertaining.

Nordic Europe has doubled-down on renewable energies (such as geothermal and low-head hydro). They also are big into offshore wind.

This has led to a general lowering of energy costs and resulting decrease in reliance on fossil fuels like natural gas.

Seeing this, the graph is not surprising.

Yeah, I feel you. In our case it's coal addiction, which is possibly worse.

BC seems to be doing OK with hydro power and EVs. Last time I was in Vancouver (for the auto show), it was the most EVs I've seen outside of China.

Fortunate enough to live in WA State, so we have beaucoups hydro also.

Yeah, that's what our majority voted for - chaotic evil, and then - big surprise - it actually happened.

The West would also move faster if huge fossil-fuel conglomerates didn't run our governments.

How about that?

...and, if it also happens to be green - so much the better. 😁

When the cult leader is a malignant narcissist, it enables mag-nar cultists. No surprise.

Honestly, I harbor no ill-will towards the cultists, any more than I did the Jonestownies or Branch-Davidians. It's the mainstream GOP, who misplaced their spines, that I have difficulty forgiving.

Speaking for myself, at least, you are welcome back, anytime. 😁

Yeah, tell me about it.

1/2 my family are Chinese, some living in China but mostly Diasporans. In total, spent about 1/4 of my life in China or Diaspora.

China has made a serious commitment to EV/EREV technology, which will change China's environment.

Meanwhile, the US goes backwards. Just great.

Thank you; I was born and raised in Seattle and, although I've lived and worked in other parts of the world, I have always returned. Spent my youth helping my dad with his research, which exposed me to several different Native/First Nations communities. Feels like Raven and Orca are my brothers.

Non-native ally, here. I'd like to also point out the contributions to biology (especially aquaculture and fisheries) made by Native scientists, like the folks my dad used to work with (Chalá·at and Quinault) in Washington State. Very wise people, helped us learn a lot about saving our salmon runs.

Had Timbits in Shanghai, China last December. I don't usually visit foreign chain restaurants in China, but somehow, I could not resist the opportunity.

Oh, wow - if I have a granddaughter, I want to read this to her. Need to get a copy now.

Science is literally everywhere and as Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking were fond of saying, it all starts with curiosity.

Yeah, I think it was the Prussians who first advocated for mandatory universal state-sponsored education, so this tracks.

BTW, "Ocean" was brilliant and eye-opening. Listen to your centenarians - there's no substitute for first-hand knowledge.

Always good advice. Never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot read. Chances are, it's in *their* best interest, not *yours*.

I'd call it a tinpot dictatorship. But what do I know, I'm just an engineer.

Used to catch Kokanee and Cutthroat trout here with my dad, in the 1960s. It is a beautiful place - thanks for the nostalgic moment.
