Yes and so while Israel is waging war others use it as a cover for their own atrocities, because almost all journalists will be watching the other way.

That's the norm not only for many Russian leaders and the KGB, but for virtually everyone in Russia, with few exceptions. We think this is not fully understood.

Both warring parties are "Arab", they both mass-slaughter non-combatant non-Arab Africans.
An end to this war will not necessarily spell an end that slaughter. Which is decades old.
2007 saw another spike of interest. Indeed right after the 2006 Israeli war vs Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Patterns.

That's the norm for many Russian leaders. KGB narratives are paranoid delusions. Their world view is based on delusions crafted to justify violence and maintain power.

Do realize that these atrocities only arrived on the media radar because the war in Gaza ended, not because they weren't happeningb at large scale.
Israeli wars have the tendency to utterly dominate journalist attention. This happened in 2006 as well with the bloody civil war in Sri Lanka.

Country with minimal corporate tax, the 2nd highest GDP/PPP in Europe who just a few days elected a President who dislikes NATO now needs European allies to come help its bad excuse of a military. Actually, the Irish military is great. It's the entitled people who fund them that suck.
