Probably the best interview in a while
I greatly appreciate everything that Christopher Eisgruber says in this interview, but, more than that, it's increasingly a relief to hear someone in a position of authority willing to be sane in public. #academicSky #eduSky

We are experiencing an assault on science unparalleled by anything I’ve seen in my life. It’s not one issue or another anymore, the entire institution is under attack by the most powerful individuals in the country.

This Friday, where will you be?

Excellent thread on this issue. Reveals a bit of how the current admin operates. Which is quickly, brutally, and incompetently.

After 20+ years after my PhD, I finally wrote the big theory paper that I dreamt of writing in the late 90's.

I don't usually (i.e., ever) share news from my institution, but this is such a good idea it deserves more dissemination and (hopefully) replication.

That's me, right there, between '08 and '09, when, as I started as assistant prof, the main source of funding in my field (NIMH) went suddenly dry. Not because of any scientific or budgetary reason, just because of the kind of ideological commitment that appears to be now common in NIH.
