All this to say, to a big part of the world -and not just Argentina- this is seen as an insult. And a real shame, I was a user of Inkarnate once.

In 1983 the newly birthed democracy upheld its claim on the islands, and since then it has achieved many UN resolutions. The Argentine claim is supported by the whole of Latin America (who want colonial foreign powers out of the continent) and Spain (because Gibraltar is also occupied).

Before the 1982 war there were even plans to hand over the islands, which were deemed unimportant by the UK back then.

In 1982, our murderous dictatorship (which disappeared 30k argentines), in a last-ditch attempt to retain power, reclaimed the islands by force. Then, we lost the war.

The islands were first settled by the French, then bought by Spain. The fledgling Argentina even founded a town and installed a governor. In 1833 they were forcibly taken by the British Empire. The population was removed and UK settlers sent in. Since then, Argentina has never renounced its claim.
