If I buy $7 of peanut butter from you and you buy $4 of jelly from me, we have a $3 trade deficit. Divide $3 into the $7 I spent - it tells me 43% of my purchases from you are not offset by sales to you. Trump math says you are charging me a 43% tariff, but in reality you’re charging me $0. (2/3)
