In 1846 Frederick Douglass addressed over 70 meetings in Scotland. From 15 January we will begin once more posting about each one on their anniversary, with links to the full texts of newspaper reports of them.

The @britishlibrary.bsky.social 1797 copy of The Columbian Orator, a book of seminal importance to Frederick Douglass, is fragile, as Douglass’s must have been. Given his later views on phrenology it seems apt that the dialogue on physiognomy is annotated x 3 with « Fred ». @fd-scotland.bsky.social
