The famous cover of Captain America #1. You may know it. But did you know it came out in March 1941, 9 months BEFORE Pearl Harbor? While the US debated how to handle Hitler, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon knew exactly what to do - punch him. Right in the face. And they stood up and said it, loud & clear

From Captain America #123 (Mar 70). I love this panel both for the great art and the idea that this supervillain hasn’t yet told her minions she has mind control powers. Way to bury the lead.
