It would take real money that Hans isn't really wanting to spend on this luxury to see the real thing. It's not the paper that matters, though. It's the words. The little flourish of the name at the bottom of the page, Jan Ptáček of Pirkšejn isn't the only personal thing spilling from the page. There's an address at the beginning, a name of a squire they've said. Heinrich is how they've translated it, but from what Hans can see, it looks like a diminutive of some sort. A nickname. It's written with affection, too, given the rest of the letter that follows. In fact, it's one of the milder letters, so the display says. Raunchy words exchanged between two fellow soldiers, my arse, Hans repeats to himself. Text that reads: Hans lingers too long, he knows. Which is why he shouldn't be surprised when another man approachs the display. He's handsome, sure. His profile cutting. His brow sharp and nearly as eye-catching as his jaw. But then that hand reaches for the display. A large working hand. Knuckles worn and callouses decorating the pads of them. Hans swallows thickly. "Oh, sorry," the voice is rich. Like earth. Though Hans can't recall eating dirt before, somehow he knows this is what the poets meant. "Just caught my eye." "The display, or me?" Hans can't help but say. He grins, and he knows he's more likely to make an arse out of himself than he is to impress anybody with a line like that, but he truly can't help it. The stranger pauses. Then his cheeks pink and he ducks his head with a shy laugh. "I'd hope to be making a better impression than tha' if I were trying to catch your eye." "I don't know," Hans smiles, letting his hand draw further down the display, fingers resting over the promise of lovers passed. "I don't think you're doing too bad a job of it."
