cut the top and bottom off a large plastic bottle to create a sleeve that entrains the humid air off the compost. If you need to repot 2:1 peat: silver (lime free) sand

Essentials: Sun, sunniest window you have; Water: rainwater or deionised; Humidity: they need it, bathrooms and kitchen behind sink can work. If traps not forming or going black from lack of humidity

Yep, grain isn’t very straight to begin with and then it seems to have a real resistance to splitting through some form of cross graining that isn’t readily visible. I’ll never forget beating doubled steel wedges into rounds to get them to fully split. One wedge was never enough!

Can confirm, it’s an absolute bastard to split! Chopped up a pile that came from casualties of Dutch elm disease ☹️

I believe she starts deep, around 85m, bottom is 120m plus. I’ve done that on the Carinthia when we were first to dive her but that’s some time in the past!😅

Now the Victoria is a wreck I’ve wanted to dive for years, shame it’s in such a sporty part of the world. The Vanguard is a cracker of a wreck, if rather gloomy most of the time, but when the vis is good it’s amazing. The 9” muzzle loaders are impressive as is the ram bow with a big anchor across it

A little earlier and not in battle but 1875 was a spectacular year for the ram😁 HMS Vanguard and SMS Grosser Kurfürst falling to their compatriots😁

Growing recruitment problems in lots of fish stocks in Irish waters. Brown crab recruitment in trouble, mussel spat settlement irregular or absent, lots of Celtic Sea fish stocks with recruitment issues, somethings up……
